Toddler Care Tips Parents Can Swear By

Toddlers and tantrums are kind of synonymous with each other. As a parent of a toddler, you must be dealing with tantrums and other behavior issues on a daily basis. This can be a challenging time with your kid’s daily needs and activities changing right along with them. Fret not, here are some toddler care Howell NJ tips for parents that hopefully will make life easier for both you and your kid:

Express your affection- Toddlers are suckers for love. Your showing love and affection (not to the extent of spoiling them though) can go a long way towards keeping them happy. Hugs, kisses, praises, attention are what you must shower, which will definitely motivate your kid to abide by the rules.

Preventing tantrums- As already has been mentioned, toddlers and temper tantrums go hand in hand. The best way to deal with or prevent your child’s tantrums is by

1.   explaining with affection how to follow the rules (safety rules in particular),

2.   becoming aware of what your child is capable of doing and what he isn’t (assign task accordingly),

3.   do not get angry when you get “no” for an answer, calm down and repeat your request,

4.   encourage your kid to become independent by offering choices for her to pick from,

5.   stick to a daily routine so your child knows what to expect and what she is expected to do,

6.   try and avoid situations that might set off tantrums, for example, don’t give toys that’s too advanced for your kid, last, but not the least,

7.   encourage your child to speak so that they can effectively express when they're tired, hungry, sick or in an unfamiliar territory that is making them uncomfortable.

Diet and Physical Activity- According to the American Heart Association, toddlers require between 900 and 1,200 calories every day. So devise an eating plan in collaboration with your pediatrician accordingly. Introduce new foods from time to time, but do not force-feed them. Offer healthy snacks at regular intervals.

Talking about exercise, toddlers should receive 30 minutes of structured physical activity (simply taking them out for a walk or spending time in the park is adequate) every day accompanied with an hour of unstructured physical activity.

Lead by example- In the formative years, kids learn how to behave watching their parents and teachers, so set a good example. Practice what you preach.
